鈥?How can bias from the media, the court system, and the police influence court cases and their decisions?

How can bias from the media, the court system, and the police influence court cases and their decisions? If this happens, what rights does the accused have?|||The easy answer is social power. All people crave some level of influence over others, it is a natural biological phenomena for humans to hold that pack mentality; that struggle for leadership. It drives our society. The court, media, and police are all examples of this power. I am not saying that these are not positive influences, but they are authoritarian powers that exist very heavily over our daily lives. When you take a look at the kinds of people who desire to be police and judges, you are generally looking at a group of people that desires control over others. This may be for the better or for worse depending on the person, but it is still accurate that they crave power. Popular figureheads in the media often have similar interests: influence over people. That is why many stand in horror at the level of bias the media has and the untruths it preaches to the population on a daily basis.

Court cases are meant to be fair, but when you are being presided over by a judge who wants power, were charged by the police who want power, and have laws that are being guided by the media (people vote many times based off of information gathered from the incredibly biased TV news and those votes are put into law), how can you expect court cases to be ruled fairly? The jury is a random group of people with random levels of basic intelligence and comprehension. Therefore, there is a highly authoritarian influence, oftentimes leading to major problems. You can manage things slightly better with a lawyer, but how hard he/she works is based on how much money you have.

We are imperfect human beings and therefore cannot create a perfect system, and our system is among the best in the world, but there are a lot of major problems we need to sort out. I have personally been subject to the court and been ruled against unfairly. A state trooper claimed I was speeding 60 when I was driving barely 40 and making a right turn. Took it to court, and the judge didn't even listen to me. The trooper didn't even show up to the case and I was still ruled against. I've been searched without reason about 6 or 7 times by the police with them claiming to smell smoke in my car. I don't smoke.
