How should we combat bias in the media?

Hi,

After reviewing the presidential elections, I have come to notice that there is an obvious bias in the media, whether that be because of business profit, sponsorship, or personal opinion.

However, that does not mean we should stand idle. We should seek ways to overcome or combat this bias. Some ideas could include a government-run news network or more strict policies for news reporting.

What do you think we could do? Any input.

Thank you!|||The media operates just like other businesses do. If you feel you are not getting a fair service by the Network or Cable coverage then you should stop watching them, and watch another Network.

When the biased media outlet loses the majority of its audience, it will change its coverage, or go out of business!|||Vote Obama. That will cure it. |||Oh Lord, we don't need government run networks...talk about SPIN! Whew! Write to them and call them on it...

let them know you are aware of what they are doing and will not buy products from their sponsors.|||Think for yourself, research actual facts about the election, spread the truth

And vote for the guy getting slammed by the media|||The media is favoring Obama just as much as the media favored Bush four years ago.

Funny how the tables turn.|||have more interviews |||well... considering the press is free... and considering speech is free, strict policies? no. a government run news network? you think that will be unbiased?

it all comes down to money. |||The answer is not the government. It is in the public. We MUST start demanding more. And the only way to start demanding more is through their profits. When you see blatant bias, contact their sponsors and demand that they not sponsor that news station any more. This would have to start at local levels. If enough of us do that, they will be forced to change or they would lose revenue.

Government regulation is NOT the answer. The only exception to this would be that if news reports were shown to be INTENTIONALLY presented in the face of contrary evidence (such as Rather's memo) that there be fines to the media outlet...that MIGHT be a consideration.

martyarty...you probably think that there is no bias in the mainstream media because they alway agree with your radical left-wing views, right? Hannity is very conservative, but HE ADMITS IT, and he has both sides represented on his radio and tv shows. The mainstream media tried to pretend that they were biased for years. Now they are finally not even masking it. They are getting chills running up their legs, etc.|||Start by terminating shawn hannity.
