As managers, it is sometimes hard to check your personal bias when in the work environment. Understanding the policies of the company is a good way to safeguard against making a bad decision.
What are some examples of work policies that prevent "personal bias" and emotionally charged work environments? Explain.|||Policies about language that should not be used in the office can go a long way.
This does not prevent personal bias, of course. But when any expression of such bias is grounds for sanctions, people tend to be more careful about what they say. This can be done fairly lightly -- people using foul or otherwise inappropriate language have to put a quarter in the jar. It's not so much the money -- there is a peer pressure thing going on when a batch of people tell you to cough it up, though. Large companies may have to be more heavy handed -- which, ironically, may not work as well.
