How Does personal bias affect the media through books, magazines, the News, and newspapers? What are so recent examples?|||Corporations overwhelmingly influence stories that are covered in the media. Large personalities like Buffet and Gates and many others are likely to swing their money around to gain favorable image through major media outlets. Corporations have some of the rights of persons, but I assume you are talking about people.
It's not really a conspiracy, because it doesn't need to be. Media executives know that they will lose advertising revenue if they decide to oppose a major person or corporation. Even the US Government, with its ad placement is exerting huge influence. Of course, this is reflected in top personalities in government like Cheney, who still has some unofficial power and still has some significant influence.
Rachael Carson who wrote "Silent Spring" overcame huge and powerful slander from "hired gun" scientists who attacked her writings and research. You see, she wrote about the dangers of poisons like DDT that endangered animals and human life. The captains of industry were not about to put up with the negative press. Fortunately for us, her writings got through the corporate slander. Sadly, the PR machines are more sophisticated today.
Double speak and spin happen today more than ever in media. I suggest you look at all of the problems with milk as a food product and identify how the dairy industry props up milk and cheese. They imply that these food products are critical to a healthy diet, when they are not. The dairy industry spins the negative consequences of their foods.
Mr. Ralph Nader is an articulate and clear thinker who has saved millions of lives through his advocacy for product safety and work safety. You can see how the media and government officials label him as the "spoiler." Read some of his recent books about his political campaigns to get an idea of how media moguls and government personalities strip Americans of the right to choose a qualified third party candidate.|||I really dont think news readers and the media get a choice how to present their message, they are channeled into presenting a politically correct message which encourages them to say what they SHOULD think they should say rather than to say what they DO think. If that makes sense :)
