If The Simpsons is supposed to have a liberal bias, why is Marge still a housewife?

The Simpsons has be accused of having a liberal bias (Matt Groening is a liberal) but the only character I can tell who has a progressive bent, is Lisa. If the Simpsons is such a Left leaning show, why doesn't Marge have her own job? Why are the workers at the power plant so oppressed by Burns? Why has there only been one Muslim family portrayed in the shows history? Why have there only been two gay characters, one closeted?|||No offense meant by this, but if this is your argument against The Simpsons having a liberal bias then you have the reasoning of a child.



Marge has had many different jobs throughout the series for one, as one of the answers already stated. The power plant workers being oppressed by Burns is an example of the greed and corruption of the wealthy. While the plant being such a poorly run and dangerous facility is a shot at nuclear power plants as well (liberals aren't fond of nuclear power). The lack of Muslims doesn't mean anything, there simply isn't a large population in the U.S. so there is no need to show numerous families. There have been more than two gay characters, a perfect example is when Smithers helps Moe transform his bar into a gay bar and all the different peripheral characters that become customers.



While there is a bias, it doesn't impose itself on the show the way you seem to think people portray it.



@Your Dad: Homer is not considered liberal on the show, he supports FOX News and routinely criticizes liberals.|||I am a conservative and I don't think the Simpsons are all that bad when it comes to being too liberal. Yea, they do poke fun sometimes at conservatives but it doesn't get to the point where it is a major part of the show. Also include the fact that the very liberal Homer Simpson is portrayed as a fat slob.
